are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior. Please see fire weather below to confirm how low or high the fire danger is today.

The Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Pagosa Fire Protection District, Hereby notify residents of Archuleta County that the current stage 1 Fire Restriction has been rescinded, effective immediately, Monday July 26th 2021.

Please continue to follow safe burning practices and remember that in accordance with Archuleta County Resolution 18-2017, all open burning requires a permit. Permits can be purchased from Pagosa Fire Protection District administration office located at, 165 N Pagosa Blvd, Pagosa Springs.

An open burning permit, including recreational fire, is required for all open burning conducted within the Archuleta County. The permit may be obtained at the Administrative Office from Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. (The office is closed daily from Noon to 1:00 pm for lunch) Fire permits are $10.00 and are good from the time of purchase until the end of the calendar year in which they are purchased.

Permit buyers are required to fill out an application form at the time of purchase. The permit is good for one address and may be used multiple times.
