Information Release –Structure Fire

On October 3, 2022, at approx. 3:24 p.m., smoke was reported coming from a garage in the 80 block of
Old Sawmill Circle. The notification was received through the 911 system managed by Archuleta County
Combined Dispatch center.
Upon arrival, first due officer noted a two-story detached garage with black smoke showing from garage
door openings. First arriving engine initiated an interior fire attack, applying water to vehicles and
garage. Fire knock down and loss stop (fire extinguishment to the point there is no more spread)
occurred within four minutes of arrival on scene.
Structure was unoccupied at the time of incident.
PFPD responded with three engines, two chief vehicles, two support vehicles, ten paid staff members,
and two volunteers. One PSMC ambulance staged on scene to provide medical care if necessary.
PFPD was on scene for approx. two and a half hours.
There are no civilian or firefighter injuries to report. The origin and cause of the fire is under
investigation.
