Information Release –Structure Fire
On December 15, 2021 at approx. 8:05 pm. a report of active flames was reported in the 3500 block of County Road 382. The notification was received through the 911 system managed by Archuleta County Combined Dispatch center.
Upon arrival, the first arriving units completed a scene size up noting a fully involved two-story residential structure. The first due engine and water tender established a defensive fire attack applying water from the exterior due to fire behavior and stability of the structure. The area does have fire hydrants, but none are located close to the incident location; water supply was maintained via tender operations.
PFPD responded with four engines, three tenders, two chief vehicles, one fire marshal vehicle, two support vehicles, 11 paid staff members, and 12 volunteers. An additional three paid staff and one volunteer reported to station for any additional incidents that may have occurred while incident was on-going. Traffic control assistance was provided by Archuleta County Sheriff’s Department. One PSMC ambulance staged on scene to provide medical care if necessary. Mutual aid response from Upper Pine Fire & Rescue was requested and then stood down once the fire was controlled.
PFPD was on scene for approx. four hours.
The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
There are no firefighter or civilian injuries to report. The origin and cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
