Forest Closure went into effect on June 12
The entire SJNF is closed to public entry. No camping, hiking, or other recreational activities are allowed. All campgrounds, day-use areas, roads and trails are closed with the following exceptions:
Open Areas
McPhee Recreation Area Complex boat ramp and marina for the purposes of launching or retrieving watercraft and who are on the water of the McPhee Reservoir at least 10 feet from the shoreline.
Open Forest Service Roads
  • Ophir Pass
  • US Basin
  • Dolores-Norwood Road
  • Piedra Road will remain open as far as the Sportsman Campground (private)
  • County roads and highways are not closed by the Forest Order but are managed by the County Sheriffs
The Colorado Trail is closed within the San Juan NF between Stony Pass and Junction Creek.
The Continental Divide Trail is closed within the San Juan NF from Cumbres Pass to Stony Pass.
Campgrounds reserved via Recreation.gov: Cancel or change reservations through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
